Interview
Renatus Kühne, Markus Tschirky and Daniel Wellinger are partners at Euro Treuhand AG. What makes their company so special and why values, trust and transparency are so important to them, they reveal in an interview.
What is the special strength of Euro Treuhand for you?
R.K.: The will and the ability to cooperate with others. We work with many financial market participants to find the best solutions for our clients – very often on a basis of trust. We have had good experience with this. Today, complex asset issues can no longer be dealt with on a stand-alone basis – certainly not on an international level.
D.W.: We are also open to new things and interested in learning. FinTech is a topic that we have worked on from scratch and in which we now have a great deal of expertise.
M.T.: Our team includes around 30 professionals with a wide variety of backgrounds. We are trustees and accountants, but also consultants and advisors to SME’s. Debt collection and tax consulting are part of our services, as well as execution of wills. We can provide our clients with comprehensive support.
What is important to you in dealing with your clients?
R.K.: Professionalism and closeness, but also speed and flexibility. When our clients have questions, we provide answers promptly. That's one of our top maxims.
I want to restructure my assets and come to Euro Treuhand with this desire. How does a consultation work?
M.T.: We listen and ask a lot of questions to find out what your thoughts are on the subject. Then, together, we define the starting point and the möpossibilities. This can also be a multi-stage process. Often, it is only gradually that we find out what the circumstances really are and how our clients really want things to be handled.
D.W.: It can be psychologically challenging to hand over your assets to a legal entity (foundation). You give up control. On the other hand, it gives you the opportunity, for example, to prevent the breakup of a company or to regulate the use of your assets beyond your own death. We show what is possible and make recommendations.
How individualized is your work?
R.K.: Very individual. The solutions we offer are as different as the people themselves. How someone acts and what is right for them depends very much on their current life situation, their personal values, and also on factors such as their risk appetite.
What if someone has unrealistic ideas or wants to take a very high risk?
D.W.: Then we point this out and offer alternatives. Transparency and openness are the be-all and end-all of a good customer relationship. Sometimes I also say ‘I wouldn't do that if it would wäre’ my assets. Then the client knows that important factors are against it.
How important is trust?
M.T.: Very important. But trust doesn't happen overnight. It's a process. We work every day to ensure that our clients feel they can rely on us.
